Example result

Converted result

1,000mL

Only the same physical quantity can be converted. Liters measure volume and cannot directly become kilograms of an ingredient.

1 liter = 1,000 milliliters; 1 cubic meter = 1,000 liters. Gallons here are US liquid gallons, not imperial gallons. Volume is not automatically equivalent to weight.

Method and scope

Conversions use a fixed factor through a common reference unit. One litre is 1,000 mL or 0.001 cubic metres; one US liquid gallon is 3.785411784 litres.

US cups are 236.5882365 mL and metric cups are 250 mL. Neither is automatically a Taiwan rice-measuring cup.

A millilitre and a cubic centimetre have the same volume. Volume cannot be converted directly to ingredient mass without density, and quantities from different dimensions cannot be mixed.

What this helps you do

Convert volume, pressure, energy or speed within the same physical quantity. Select the quantity first, then choose both units again.

What to enter

Start with value, then fill the other relevant fields in the units shown. Available calculations are Volume, Pressure, Energy, Speed.

How the calculation works

Conversions use a fixed factor through a common reference unit. One litre is 1,000 mL or 0.001 cubic metres; one US liquid gallon is 3.785411784 litres.

Worked example

Two litres equals 2,000 mL. One thermochemical kilocalorie equals 4,184 joules, while 36 km/h equals 10 m/s.

Understanding the answer

US cups are 236.5882365 mL and metric cups are 250 mL. Neither is automatically a Taiwan rice-measuring cup.

Scope and limitations

A millilitre and a cubic centimetre have the same volume. Volume cannot be converted directly to ingredient mass without density, and quantities from different dimensions cannot be mixed.
