Flight duration across time zones

Find elapsed time using each endpoint's local clock and selected city time zone. Change the arrival date when a flight crosses a calendar day.

Start with your own numbers

Editable example

An example is filled in. Replace it with your own data to calculate.

Enter the local departure and arrival dates and times, then select each location's time zone.

Enter the local date and time, for example 2026-11-03 09:30. Include the correct date when crossing midnight.
Choose departure city time zone. Check the selected option before entering the remaining values.
Enter the arrival city's local date and time. If arrival is on another day, change the date too, not only the clock.
Choose arrival city time zone. Check the selected option before entering the remaining values.

Results update when inputs are complete. A plan is kept only when you save it. Inputs and results are not uploaded.

Example result

Actual elapsed time

14hours

Change the arrival date for an overnight flight. Results use the selected time zones and are not a flight timetable.

Departure in UTC2026-01-01T02:00:00.000Z
Arrival in UTC2026-01-01T16:00:00.000Z

Worked steps

  1. Convert both local date-times to UTC using each city's time zone and daylight-saving rules for that date.
  2. Arrival UTC − departure UTC; the clock-face difference alone is not flight duration.

Supports the 12 listed cities and years 2000–2100, converting to UTC with the browser's built-in IANA time-zone rules. Does not simply subtract local clocks. Nonexistent or ambiguous daylight-saving times are refused; use a confirmed unambiguous time. Rules depend on browser version and may change with government policy. Does not look up flights, predict delays or determine connection safety.

Method and scope

Local dates are converted to UTC using the browser's IANA time-zone rules, then subtracted. This handles zone offsets rather than simply subtracting the two clock readings.

Daylight-saving transitions can make local times nonexistent or repeated. Such ambiguous endpoints are rejected; use a confirmed unambiguous time.

Only the listed 12 cities and years 2000-2100 are supported. Rules depend on browser data and future governments may change them; this does not look up flights, predict delays or assess connection safety.

What this helps you do

Find elapsed time using each endpoint's local clock and selected city time zone. Change the arrival date when a flight crosses a calendar day.

What to enter

Start with departure local date and time, then fill the other relevant fields in the units shown. The field hints explain the required format and examples.

How the calculation works

Local dates are converted to UTC using the browser's IANA time-zone rules, then subtracted. This handles zone offsets rather than simply subtracting the two clock readings.

Worked example

Departure from Taipei at 2026-11-03 09:00 and arrival in Tokyo at 2026-11-03 13:00 gives three hours elapsed. Tokyo is one hour ahead of Taipei on that date.

Understanding the answer

Daylight-saving transitions can make local times nonexistent or repeated. Such ambiguous endpoints are rejected; use a confirmed unambiguous time.

Scope and limitations

Only the listed 12 cities and years 2000-2100 are supported. Rules depend on browser data and future governments may change them; this does not look up flights, predict delays or assess connection safety.
