Recipe calories and nutrients
Add ingredient label values to estimate calories and nutrients for the whole recipe and each portion. Missing nutrients stay unknown, not zero.
Use sodium per serving and the number of servings eaten to estimate total sodium and ordinary table salt equivalent.

Ordinary table salt equivalent is an approximation, not the amount of added salt or total daily sodium.
Total sodium = sodium per serving times servings eaten; approximate ordinary table salt equivalent in grams = sodium in milligrams divided by 400. Check whether the label describes one serving, 100 g or the whole package, and use the amount eaten. Enter zero only when known. This is equivalent sodium in ordinary table salt, not the amount actually added; other ingredients and seasonings also contain sodium. Low-sodium salt has a different composition. This is not total daily intake, dietary advice or diagnosis; consult a health professional about individual restrictions.
This approximates ordinary table salt with 400 mg sodium per gram. It is an equivalent, not the amount of salt added.
Sodium also comes from ingredients and other additives. Lower-sodium salts have different composition; this is not daily intake advice or a medical diagnosis.

Convert the sodium consumed from a labeled food into an approximate ordinary table salt equivalent for easier comparison.
Enter sodium in milligrams per labeled serving and the number of servings actually eaten. Check how many servings are in the package.
Multiply sodium per serving by the number eaten. Divide the total milligrams of sodium by 400 to get grams of ordinary table salt equivalent.
A label lists 400 mg sodium per serving. Eating 1.5 servings gives 600 mg sodium, equivalent to approximately 1.5 g ordinary table salt.
This is an equivalent amount of ordinary table salt, not a claim that the food contains that much added salt. Labels may be rounded.
Sodium can come from ingredients and other additives. Low-sodium salt has different composition. This is not daily intake or medical advice.
